Masters converge with exquisite crafts: nearly 140 fine artworks showcased at the Guangzhou branch of the National Archives of Publications and Culture

On August 3rd, the grand opening of the "Radiant Artistry: Lingnan Fine Craftsmanship Exhibition" took place at the Guangzhou branch of the National Archives of Publications and Culture, celebrating the branch"s first anniversary.

This exhibition drew 92 craftsmen and artists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, presenting a carefully curated collection of nearly 140 pieces of fine crafts, including ivory carving, jade carving, wood carving, Guangzhou painted porcelain, Cantonese embroidery, paper-cutting, straw painting, furniture, ceramic micro-books, and other outstanding creations and manuscripts. It promises to be an artistic feast, combining aesthetic and cultural value for the vast audience.

Promoting culture through exhibition, encouraging "dual innovation"

As a crucial pillar supporting Guangdong as a cultural powerhouse in the new era and serving as a new landmark for Guangdong culture, the Guangzhou branch has been dedicated to its core mission of collecting various versions of publications. It has employed a comprehensive approach, including distribution, purchase, donation, and custody, to gather ancient and contemporary editions from all over the world.

During his speech, Zhang Weitao, the curator of the Guangzhou branch, highlighted that they had amassed over 2 million volumes of publications, with a focus on more than 300,000 volumes of characteristic editions related to reform and opening-up, Lingnan culture, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. These efforts have established a unique collection of the Guangzhou branch.

He emphasized the concept of "promotion through exhibition" and designed a series of high-quality exhibitions. The "Radiant Artistry" exhibition is a prime example, carefully selecting 140 representative pieces of Lingnan fine crafts that possess significant cultural and regional value. These artworks are a valuable resource for the development of Lingnan fine crafts.

A collection of masterpieces manifesting the essence of Lingnan culture

Representing the participating artists, Chinese Master of Fine Arts, Wu Bingliang, stated, "This grand exhibition is a culmination of years of meticulous design and production by the Guangdong masters of fine arts, and it is a grand gift to the Lingnan region"s fine craft tradition." He believes that artists will continue to contribute to the inheritance, development, and promotion of Lingnan"s craft and cultural art while embracing the essence of Chinese traditional culture.

Onsite, visitors can witness a display of iconic works from renowned Lingnan craftsmen. The event is truly a gathering of masters and a showcase of masterpieces. For instance, the nationally acclaimed Cantonese embroidery representative successor, Chen Shaofang"s masterpiece, "Morning Glow", occupies a prominent position in the first exhibition hall. The artwork depicts a peacock gracefully dancing under the rising sun.

The highlight of this artwork lies in the peacock"s wings. Departing from conventional techniques, Chen Shaofang polished the underside of the wings that would typically remain in shadow, causing the wing"s outline to "pop out" towards the viewer, creating a more three-dimensional effect.

Another masterpiece, "Ladies in Xiguan", by Chinese Master of Fine Arts Zhai Huiling, fuses vibrant and splendid Guangzhou painted porcelain with lively elements of Lingnan"s local life.

大师云集 匠心璀璨：近140件工美精品亮相广州国家版本馆

8月3日，在广州国家版本馆开馆一周年之际，《匠心璀璨——岭南工艺美术精品大展》在广州国家版本馆隆重开幕。

此次展览特邀粤港澳大湾区92位工艺美术家、艺术家，精选展出“三雕一彩一绣”、剪纸、麦秆画、家具、陶瓷微书等各类工艺精品、创作手稿等近140件（套）作品，为广大观众带来一场审美价值与文化价值并举的艺术盛宴。

以展促藏，推动文化“双创”

作为新时代广东文化新地标和文化强省建设重要支撑，广州国家版本馆自建成开馆以来，聚焦版本收藏主业，综合运用拨交、采购、捐赠、寄存代管等多种方式，全面收集古今中外各类典籍版本。

广州国家版本馆馆长张伟涛在致辞中指出，广州国家版本馆累计收藏版本200多万册（件），并突出分馆特色，重点收藏了改革开放、岭南文化、港澳台和华人华侨等特色版本30多万册（件），构建广州分馆特色版本体系。

他强调，版本馆坚持“以展促藏”，策划实施了一系列精品展览。此次展览从一批有代表性、地域性的岭南工艺美术精品中精选出140件。这批具有代表性、文化性、地域性的岭南工艺美术精品，是岭南工艺美术的重要版本资源。

精品荟萃，彰显岭南气象

作为参展艺术家代表，中国工艺美术大师伍炳亮表示：“此次大展是广东工艺美术大师们历年精心设计、制作的阶段性总结，也是献给岭南地区工艺美术的大礼。”在他看来，艺术家们将继续在中华优秀传统文化的继承发展、传承创新，以及弘扬岭南地区工艺与文化艺术方面作出贡献。

记者看到展览现场展出不少岭南工艺美术大师的代表性作品，可谓大师云集，精品荟萃。例如，广绣国家级代表性传承人陈少芳的名作《晨曦》，摆在一进展厅的显眼之处，画面中一只孔雀迎着旭日东升的方向振翅起舞。

据介绍，这幅作品的亮点在于孔雀的翅膀：陈少芳抛开传统做法，把本应处于阴暗面的翅膀底部擦亮，使孔雀翼膊部位向观众观看的方向“凸”出来，画面呈现更为立体。

中国工艺美术大师翟慧玲的广彩作品《西关小姐》，在传统广彩“绚彩艳丽，金碧辉煌”的基础上，融入鲜活、浓厚的岭南生活气息元素。(更多新闻资讯，请关注羊城派 pai.ycwb.com)
